ECBC's English Congregation is blessed to have a strong team of servant-leaders - members of the congregation who sacrifice their time and energy to serve the needs of the church and the community in leadership roles. The role of servant-leader reflects God's calling upon the lives of all believers - that we are all called to be ministers of God, whether we are full-time pastors or regular members of the church. However, as leaders within the church, we are not CEOs or bosses, but rather servants - servants of Christ first and foremost, and servants of His Church second. Our servant-leaders serve in different ministry areas relating to their own individual gifts, talents, and passion. They are nominated by the previous year's English servant-leaders, and approved by ECBC's Church Council.
Our team of servant-leaders for 2009 is as follows:
Worship - Joyce Chan (joyce.chan.101@gmail.com)
Our worship servant-leader is responsible for the Music Ministry and the Sunday morning worship celebration. Her role is to appoint and equip worship leaders and worship teams (singers, musicians), and to coordinate worship services with the English pastor. See our Worship page.
Fellowship - Kelvin Fong (kfong@telus.net)
The fellowship servant-leader oversees the English fellowships, helping to provide motivation, guidance, support, and vision to the fellowship & small group ministry and leaders.
Outreach - Melissa Duong (mduong@ualberta.ca)
Outreach & mission are at the core of our church's mission - "To share God's love". Our outreach servant-leader oversees the outreach ministries of the English congregation - service projects, outreach events, evangelistic efforts, community service, etc. She has a passion to see people experience the love of God in their lives through the words and works of the church. Sunday School - Stephen Brown (hugiboo@gmail.com)
Our Sunday school servant-leader oversees the English Sunday school program for youth through adults. He ensures that there are trained, knowledgeable, passionate teachers for each class, and is responsible for ensuring that the materials taught are consistent with the Statement of Faith of the church. He also spearheads attempts to develop a long-term curriculum plan for college & career age groups, and oversees the continued implementation of our Youth 3-Year Curriculum.
