As the last official event of ECBC from the English congregation, serving holiday dinner at Hope Mission was definitely not the least of the events this year. Along with volunteers from six other groups, sixteen people from ECBC's English youth served over 200 people in the last of four holiday dinners hosted by the non-profit organisation. |

ECBC held a joint-worship trilingual service Sunday to celebrate the birth of the risen Saviour Jesus Christ. The worship music alternated between the Canotonese choir and the English worship team. A special message was delivered by Reverend Ng not about the birth, but more on the death of Christ and his last seven statements made on the cross. |

The Edmonton Food Bank is a non-profit organization that started with two simple realizations: there were people in the community that were suffering from hunger and that food was being wasted in the community. Put two and two together and you can see the opportunity to change some things for the greater good. This Friday, Oct 31 was an opportunity to help feed the hungry in the city. |

Live From Vancouver!
Since then I've had an opportunity to visit Mark's Korean church on one Sunday, where he's the pastor of the English congregation. They're mainly youth, sort of like the ECBC English congregation but with fewer white people. They're in an adjoining building which is rather humble and cold, but they'll move into the main church once the main congregation moves into a new building that's under construction. It takes me an hour each way to get there by bus and sky train, which is why I've only been there once! >>> Click for David Arndt's Update |

Thanksgiving in Kentucky
We had a wonderful Canadian Thanksgiving here. Dr. Peter Gentry (a Septuagint and Hebrew scholar at Southern Seminary) and his wife hosted a Canadian Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon. There were about 30 of us there altogether, and it was an absolutely terrific time! Turkey, potatoes, stuffing, sweet potato, green beans, pumpkin pie, apple pie, jello salad - a great meal, and great fellowship as well. Met a couple of Canadian students that we hadn't met before. There were about 9 kids there altogether, all Mataeo's age and younger, so the kids had a great time too. Had some good theological conversations as well. >>> Click for the Andersons' latest update |

The Andersons' first hurricane...
This morning, the effects of hurricane Ike hit Louisville, Kentucky. The wind started picking up during Sunday school, and then got stronger during Sunday worship. After worship we stayed for lunch, and the wind got even worse. there were tree limbs strewn throughout the church parking lot. Driving the 8 blocks to home, we passed several large branches broken off of trees, including one which took down a power line across the road. As we entered our townhouse court, there was a massive tree which had been entirely uprooted, and had come through the roofs of two of our neighbors. Aiyaaaaa. Crazy stuff. The wind gusts reached 120 km/h. >>> Click for the Andersons' latest update |
