Giving Glory to God at Thanksgiving
ECBC celebrated Thanksgiving Sunday with a joint-language worship service led by the English congregation worship team. Pastor Dennis preached on bringing glory to God in all you do. Guest Pastor Steve Fish presented a tenor solo of To God Be the Glory.

Blind Behind The Wheel
Blind Behind The Wheel is a fundraiser for Alberta Guide Dog Services. It is at the international raceway and the event consists of blind people driving a car with a sighted driver. It's a race and we'll be collecting pledges for to raise money for Alberta Guide Dog Services. If pledging by cheque, they should be made to the Alberta Guide Dog Services. The race starts 3PM Saturday, Sept 11. To make arrangements to pledge to our congregation's Louise Pfau who will be participating as a driver, please contact her by email. Pledges are needed before Saturday.

Rock the River Tour West
The event on August 28 at TELUS Field wrapped up the Rock The River Tour West in Canada. Organized by the Billy Graham Evangelism Association, ECBC participated in a concert outreach that saw over 300 people make committments and recommitments to follow Jesus! Rock the River Tour West
It's finally coming on August 28th. Rock The River will be at TELUS field and you can get tickets through ECBC as a distributor. Ask Pastor Dennis for details. ECBCs English congregation celebrated the end of Holy Week with the baptisms of Louise Pfau and Fai Yuen, alongside Bryan Wai from the Cantonese Congregation. This are the first baptisms from the English Congregation since Mandy was baptised in April 2009. View their baptism and testimony videos on the Ecbico Portal.

Todays special membership meeting voted Pastor Dennis Milne to continue as the English pastor of ECBC. The motion passed with 86 votes in favour, and one opposed. Another motion carried through as part of a non-special membership vote was to approve Lily Ma as a Children's Sunday School teacher.

After negotiations with Alberta Land Title Registry and the CTV Television Consortium over the use of industrial zoning for non-profit use, ECBC purchased a new donated building set to be the new home of ECBC on Monday for the price of $1 for the land purchase

ECBCs Cantonese Congregation Lunar New Years' event entered the Year of the Tiger with a live stream of their celebration event Sunday. The impromptu live stream is the first ever for the church and reflects part of the continuous changes in the method of sharing the Gospel in the information age.

For ECBC, The year of 2009 was definitely one which reflected the theme of the year, Growing in Christ. Not only did the average attendance increase in the pews, but we grew in other ways and met some of the goals set at the beginning of the year.

The English congregation has definitely had its share of unique worship styles and services in 2009, ushering the year with one where the whole congregation as symbolically an offering on the altar by having the whole service on the stage.
