Singing in Communion
ECCC sings at ECCC
Lincoln Ho
The Edmonton Chinese Christian Choir once again sang songs of praise last Sunday at Edmonton Christian Community Church. The Rejoice Always Praise Festival, directed by Melanie Turgeon, drew in a large auditorium crowd and included worship dancing and skits featuring Apostle Paul.
The workshops leading up to the event included guest speakers and classes which allowed non-choir members to attend. Guest speakers included Dr. Jerry Shepherd from Taylor Seminary, Dr. Samuel Ho from Seattle Chinese Alliance Church, conductor Melanie Turgeon from King's University College in Edmonton, Dr. Samuel Tang, Beth Raycroft, Carolyn Galley, Pastor Andrew Ketel, and Laurel Bridges. Four people who attended the special workshops shared their experience during the event, including ECBCs Florence Leung. Child care was made possible by caretakers Grace Law and Winnie Law.
In addition to workshops and music, the 78 member choir from 13 different congregations also had the opportunity to dine with members of the Beit Mashiach Congregation, led by Pastor Andrew Ketel, in a special Haggadah Passover ceremony. It was an experience and a celebration of different cultural backgrounds in an event all to give thanks and praise in communion as an extended body of Christ.
