The following baptismal testimony is in its original English text.
Austen Chan shares his testimony.
My first interaction with God was when I was just one month old. My parents brought me to church, and continue to do so even now. I only began understanding God and the Bible when I was around 4 years old. At that time, I thought of God as a big hoax, and the Bible as wishful thinking.
As I progressed through the years, however, the church’s influence slowly began changing my thinking. I realized that the only thing stopping God from changing my life was myself. So I began removing the layers of doubt and suspicion that clogged up my soul which prevented God from helping me.
After a few of those layers were removed, God came in and helped me clear away most of the rest. It was like a ray of pure sunlight whenever I felt him in my presence, helping me. Although not all of those damaging layers are gone, God still helps me in removing them.
Austen is baptised by Rev. Ng.
When I got into Grade 7, things were hard for me. I was in a new school, surrounded by new people, and completely without allies or support. However, God lent me his strength and guidance, and he became the pillar that I leaned on. It was then that I decided to give my life to Him, for he had done so much for me, and I finally surrendered my life to Him.
So I went along into Grade 8, and I signed up for the baptism class, and now I am ready to truly embrace the wonderful gift that he is.
God has done so much for me and my family, guiding us and helping us make the right choices. He has protected us from possible harm and fatal sickness, and I am truly grateful to Him. Thank you.
