The following baptismal testimony is translated from Chinese by Agnes Leung.

Mei Yan Ng shares her testimony.

I remember on September 7, 2008’s worship service, I read on the bulletin that there will be a baptismal class. That day was also the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. I thought will anybody come and approach me to attend the baptismal class? So I prayed and ask him to show me what to do. I wanted to attend the baptismal class but was scared that I can’t do it. God sent brother Kam Chan to ask me if I wanted to attend the baptismal class. I was scared but I wanted to know this true God so I thought about it the whole week before deciding to attend.

Initially, I thought that if I have accepted Christ, that’s enough, there’s no need to be baptized. Later, I discovered that it is not enough, I need to be baptized so I can share with those around me so they would know that I am a Christian.

Mei Yan is baptised by Rev. Ng.

Since childhood, I saw lots of people bringing incense to temples to worship idols. My mom is the daughter of the leader of the temple, so I often visit my grandparents with my mom. I am very closed to my mom, she is a kind mom. Maybe because I am female, I often stick to my mom and was obedient to her. My dad is more serious but he is a good dad. He was a businessman and spent most of his time at work. Everybody at home worshiped Buddha. Every day, we need to bow down to it. A bit later, my aunt secretively took me to church. I was very little still, maybe 7 or 8 years old. I liked to go to church because there were candies. Afterwards, mom found out and didn’t let me go anymore. She also got mad of my aunt. Thanks God, mom later understood why and reconciled with my aunt.

Since then, I didn’t go to church because my aunt went to Canada. Later on, I got to know my husband and got married. He is a Christian and encouraged me continuously to go to church. Slowly, I have been to church for 16 years. During these 16 years, I felt that it was right to get to know this God. He gave me a feeling of security and trust, besides I can also receive salvation. Every time I attend worship service, I have a feeling that is beyond speech. I am very happy to be with God.

Here, I want to thank Jimmy (my husband), my family, Mrs. Ng, Chester, Agnes, Kam, Bernadette. They have been very patient and loving to me. Without them, I would not feel or see God’s existence. These are all given to me by God’s grace. I treasure the time I can be with Christians through them I can be with God. The Bible also is full of truths. If I believe in Jesus Christ, I will be saved.
