Youth At Habitat for Humanity

ECBC youth volunteered their time and effort at Habitat for Humanity today to assist in the construction of a subsidized housing project in the Edmonton. The event was led by team leader Michael Brown who organized the event in partnership with the non-profit organization.
While the team started early at 8AM with Stephen Brown feeling that he could have been sleeping, he enjoyed not knowing who he was serving and ended up having fun. Joyce Chan also was not fully awake by 9AM and wasn't sure what she was actually doing after one hour of screeting.
Michael Brown, a return volunteer, commented on the event during a work break, "We're here on the site of the Habitat for Humanity in Norwood area and we got a team of eight here today from ECBC. We're basically leveling the back area for a patio. We're doing a little bit of sawing, a litle bit of shoveling, a little bit of raking. It's a lot of fun and the weather is really beautiful as well. So we're just really enjoying it."
Chris Trinh said that "It's awesome we get to know everyone better and it's better than staying at home and ding nothing."
Joyce Chan and Mandy Hong liked the idea of building something for someone you don't even know, but mentioned that it would be nice to see the owner receiving the house for the first time. They spent the morning screeting along with Julie Truong.
Returning volunteer Lincoln noted that doing the job this time around was a humbling experience since he painted last time. He also said that it's all part of the body that each work is done and it justified doing the little jobs which are less significant than the finished buildings at the Norwood site.
