Mission Team Departs for Rae
Excerpt on mission trip by Winnie Law
God sent us to Rae because there are children starving, starving for the love of God. For the past 2 years my church, Edmonton Chinese Baptist Church (ECBC), has had the privilege of teaming up with the Tlicho Baptist Church in sharing God’s word with the Rae-Edzo Community. Every time we’ve gone, we have been welcomed with open arms by children who are desperate to experience the love that God has to offer them. We can see the need for followers of Christ to be within this community, committed to share His love.
The first year, there were 14 people who went. All were eager and excited at the unknown adventure that laid before them. In the second year, there were 9 who went. Also extremely eager individuals who were determined to make a difference. Now in the third year there are 16 of us. Many new faces and a few returning individuals. We are all excited to see how God will work through us in order to make his presence known in this community.
So with ourselves we bring Kids Camp (VBS), Art Ministry, Sports Ministry, Community Projects, Adult Bible Studies and several other ministries in hopes to tell the people of the Rae-Edzo community about the Good News. Each year we learn more and more about what is needed up there, and each year God provides us with the necessary resources and knowledge to go up again. So this year, 2008 will be our third time back to Rae-Edzo as a church, and we pray that the third time really is the charm.
Here are this year's team members. Please read their bios and pray for them daily individually during their mission and thanks for praying for their needs for those who have been partnered with a team member. The Rae mission team left ECBC this morning at 7:30 in a caravan. They will be returning to Edmonton on the 26th.

Steven DuongI'm going to the missions trip because there's an opportunity to reach out to those people there. During and after the Cochrane retreat, I felt that God wanted me to go on some sort of mission. So, here I am, excited and a little nervous! Pray that we give ourselves completely to His will, that we completely trust in Him, and that we not shy away from opportunities. Pray for enthusiasm and energy, especially for VBS. Thank you!

The Leung FamilyThe Leung's, Brendan (9), Daniel (11), Agnes and Chester will be participants of this trip. Chester has been to Rae 2 years ago. He has a passion to tell the First Nations about God's love. BDA are going the first time.
Daniel is going because he wants to teach people about Jesus and have some fun. He wants you to remember him in your prayers so that he won't get tired and will remember the purpose of the trip.
Brendan is going because he wants to teach many kids about Jesus. Please pray that he will be focused and will get enough rest.
Agnes is going because she wants to support the work of the Tlicho church and has compassion for the people in Rae. Please pray that she can be plugged into God no matter whether she gets the space she enjoys or not.
Please pray for Chester's stamina as he does not get to sleep on the van as he is the only driver in that vehicle.

Bianca HoMy name is Bianca Ho, and I will be going to highschool this coming school year. This is my second time going to Rae-Edzo. Last time when I wentm i was only 13, and I wasn't sure what to expect, I didn't think that there would be kids just roaming around the streets randomly with no parents at all. I didn't understand how the parents just don't care about the safety of their children. And honestly I still don't really understand that, but, that really helped me realize how fortunate I am to be living in Edmonton, with parents that love me, and give me the attention I need. I kind of know what to expect up in Rae this year, however, things change, and I will also be expecting surprises and see what God has in store!

Grace LawThis mission trip will be my 3rd time in Rae and I am looking forward to all the sunrises and sunsets! I'm also excited about making art with the kids and swinging a hammer at broken objects to fix things up. Please pray that I will be alert and obedient to all the opportunities God brings up during the 8 days in the north. I wish that God's love will be apparent through me as I share my passion for the arts. Thanks to everyone at ECBC who is supporting this team through prayer and fundraising. I am honored for this opportunity and will do my best to represent our church and our Lord.

Priscilla OrI have never been to any mission trip before, and I never thought I would. But starting last year, I feel a strong urge in my heart telling me to go to at least 1 mission trip this year, after praying to God, I decided to join this year's mission trip to Rae Edzo. Through out the trainings we had for this trip, I got the chance to know more about brothers and sisters from the English congregation, and I am really thankful that our mission team is made up of 16 special individuals, all of us are good at different things, and I am looking forward to work with them as a team to spread out God's love in Rae Edzo!
Even though I am really looking forward to experience God in Rae Edzo, I have to overcome some of my greatest fear when I am up there, they are no shower, frogs and huge bugs! (I am shivering when I am thinking about them right now!) Even though I wish I don't have to face them, but I know that's one challenge God put me through so I can step out of my comfort zone and experience Him! Please pray that I can have the courage to face whatever I need to face in Rae Edzo, so that I can share God's love with the people in that community with no string attached! :)

Stephen BrownI have been on mission in Vancouver, Tijuana, and once before in Behchoko. Each trip was special in it's own way and each one stretched me. I expect that this trip will be no different in the fact that it will be very different from all the others. Please pray for me to have extra patience, and pray that I will understand how God wants to use me on this trip.

Carla BrownMissions is not trip, it is an everyday experience. We are continually on the mission field and needing to serve. I have been very blessed that God has taken me from home on eight previous trips where the intent was service and evangelism, and I am blessed that he has allowed me to return to Behchoko again this year. This place is very dear to my heart and I am continually burdened for the Tlicho Nation. I don't yet know what I am looking forward to as each year is a totally different experience, but I know I will be happy to see the kids and get an opportunity to reach out to some other groups in the community. Please pray for me as I step out of my comfort zone in many many ways on this trip, but also as I have the opportunity to explore some of my passions. Pray also for the team, for unity with God, community and each other, and most of all that we will be sensitive to God's will as a team.

Pastor NgI'm looking forward to this trip and I'm glad that I can meet those people that I know of the 1st mission and am excited to get back and talk to them and visit these old friends.
Please pray for my health on the trip as I have been not well. I will be responsible for leading devotions for the group, adult Bible studies, and am preaching one of the Sundays. Pray for the ministry and serving the needs of the people. Pray for a safe trip as I packed late the night before and didn't get much sleep. Pray that we see how God works up [in Rae] and to be on mission with Him.
