New Believers Find "God With Us"
On Sunday, December 21, 2008, ECBC hosted an Edmonton Chinese Christian Choir event "God With Us". It was a concert and gospel sharing event hosted by Elaine Chu and Krista Li for newcomers and those interested in Christianity, as are most ECCC concerts.
Members of the ECBC choir joined with other Chinese Christian churches to perform what has been labeled the best performance since its inception. The musical performances also had a special solo by So-Ling Tam, a duet by Patrick and Dorothy Fung, a choral quartet, and various selections were accompanied by a brass quintet band (Wendy Grasdahl, Eila Peterson, Shamilla Ramnawaj, David Wiley, Clarence Samuelson).
Beyond the music, the Chinese bilingual service in Cantonese and Mandarin included a sharing of two testimonies, one about overcoming cancer through God's grace, and one shared by Jin Hao, who was baptised during the morning Christmas service. There was also a skit of the three wisemen (Danny Chan, Janus Hu, Andy Tsang) in conversation with a shepherd (Danny Szeto) delivering the birth narrative, followed by the Gospel message by Reverend Ng.
Thanks to the Holy Spirit working in the midst, eleven new believers received God's gift by accepting Jesus into their lives during event. The new believers received special gifts and were taken to another room to discuss and pray with ministry workers in the library.
The reception after the main event was grand with many colourful desserts of all sorts. It was organized and decorated by Angela Leung and Mrs. Ng.
Participating churches of the event other than ECBC includes Apostolic Bible Church, Edmonton Chinese New Life Church, Evangel Chinese Baptist Church, Edmonton Chinese Alliance Church, Edmonton Christian Community Church, Lansdowne Chinese Baptist Church, and South Edmonton Alliance Church.
