Church Leader Series: Chester Leung
Chester Leung
This week we introduce our servant leader Chester Leung. He is the English liason for the Church Council and has been serving in this role for a few years already. By weekdays he is an auto mechanic at his own repair shop, and by Sundays, he oversees the English congregation. Seven days a week, he is married to his wife Agnes, and is the father of 2 sons, Daniel & Brendan. By his occupation, he naturally like cars and driving, but also enjoys eating and play video games.
This year, as a key servant leader recognized in both congregations, he wants to help the Servant Leaders to be more independent, and also to co-operate with other congregations at ECBC. As a goal for this year to fit in with our theme, he would like to help the Servant leaders to grow spiritually, be in fellowship, and to serve others. In this role, he would also focus on bringing the needs of the English congregation by working as a team. He states that since the "English congregation is part of the whole Church, we need to understand [what] each congregation need[s]."
If Chester had to choose another servant leader role, he says he would choose to be the fellowship servant leader because he "like[s] to talk and meet new people."
As servant leader in the past, he has learned to trust in God; to let Him work through him, so that he does not show off my own achievements. Chester has also come to realise that without God, he can do nothing for His purpose. From a Biblical narrative, he finds that the story of Moses leading the Israelites to Canaan best relates to his position.
