Christmas Wonder Outreach Celebrates the Life of Jesus
The Cantonese congregation had a special multimedia outreach production at ECBC on Sunday evening sharing the story of Christmas and how it is applicable to modern life. The story followed a couple of actors on a stage rehearsing for a Christmas play. When the actors fail to memorize their lines and have the errands of life get in the way of their work, an angel comes to bring them on a wonderful journey to follow why they are putting together the play to begin with. Strip away the costumes and glitz, the angel brings them to see a situation following a young man and an older woman who may have got through life never meeting one another.
The woman meets the young man in an unfortunate circumstance where the young man had somehow killed her son. After going through a two year sentence for manslaughter, the man comes out of jail to seek forgiveness from the mother. Because of she was forgiven by Jesus' redemption, the woman forgives the young man, and they both meet regularly to share in their personal experiences and their lives in Christ. After seeing the story of forgiveness, the actors return to ECBC with the rehearsal, and forgive one another in their own relationship. The evening also followed the story of the real Santa Claus and followed the history of St. Nicholas as canonized in the Catholic church.

Musical performances by the Edmonton Chinese Christian Choir flowed in with the video clips and the stage acting. The video clips were cinematic in style using special green screen effects and theatrical filters. In terms of the progression of video productions at ECBC over the years, this is by far the most complex to this date. The embedded clip on this page was created by Hoyin Li and took three weeks to make. It is one of several clips used in the plot.
The presentation also followed a few other personalized stories including one in Mandarin for the multiple visitors stepping into any church for the first time, and a single mother neglecting her children while talking on her cell phone and doing Christmas shopping. Door prizes of DVD concert performances by the choir were also given out to some of the guests.
After the production, the Gospel was delivered by pastors Ng & Lim, and a call to the altar showed that many people are still thirsty for the living water that Christ offers. At least two people made a decision to follow Jesus as their Lord and saviour. Please help the Cantonese congregation by supporting them by prayer or seeing if they are in need of volunteers of future productions.
A dessert reception ended the night as the Christmas celebrations at ECBC was earlier this year, happening on the 20th of December.
